Next Activity
Dear all,
Hello! How are you doing? I have not answered before because some course participants are still unable to log into the platform due to connection problems and this has kept me pretty busy. By the way, I know some others have not logged into the group blog yet. I suppose it has to do with either the way you are registered or your e-mail address. Never mind, as we try to solve it, I will open a new channel. Do not worry, it´s on the platform itself.
On the left margin of the platform you have different boxes ( Search Forum, Online Users, People, etc) Well, you should go to UPCOMING EVENTS box, click on “go to calendar”, once there click on the highlighted date on the calendar. There you will find the coming activities.
This new channel of communication will be added to the other ones ( Yahoo group, the blog and e-mails ) So, if you cannot enter one of these, try the others. I will publish the latest news on all of them.
Something I would like to point out is that you actually work in a professional way. I do not refer just to your productions but to the team spirit. You comment on your colleagues´work, give a hand to those in need and share your personal viewpoints. There is no number to grade that, but there is a word, "GREAT!"
Now we move on to our next activity:
Our next activity is Unit Nº 1.5, Reading. There are four sections in this unit:
a. Reading in everyday life
b. Terminology and subskills
c. Understanding a text
d. Beliefs about teaching reading
In section 1 (Reading in everyday life) There is a questionnaire about reading (downloadable document) for you to answer at home. And a forum based on this questionnaire. You have to report your views on the forum (not the questionnaire !)
In section 2 (Terminology and subskills) There is an exercise (you have to work on your own) and an assignment on ways of reading. It´s the assignment the one you will have to post (read the instruction to make a “draft” copy at home on Word format)
Section 3 (Understanding a text) includes an exercise for own practice. Don´t forget to submit your definite answers so that the system keeps a record of your participation. Remember you can make use of the TKT glossary (the link is provided on the platform under “Help & Support” heading on the browsing bar)
Finally, In Section 4 (Beliefs about teaching) you have to choose ONE of topics introduced by Dominic Hart and reply your comment.
Assessment for this unit will be based on three items:
a. Report to the forum in Section 1.
b. The assignment in Section 2.
c. Your reply to the topics suggested by Dominic Hart in section 4.
The deadline for this unit is next Friday, June 27th. You can go your own pace. You can do everything one single day, or in two halves, or in three, four or five sections at a cyber café. As you please. A piece of advice!! I think it would be much more practice to work on the assignments at home and bring them already “cooked” (saved on a floppy disk, CD, pen drive or whatever other means of storing information) to be posted. I think it´s time and money saving!!

God bless technology (???)
Hi everybody, eventhough technology is a field I don´t handle very well I think It is a great tool to help us, sometimes it may seem technology turns again us, but I think we should be patient and keep on trying, that´s me Miss Impatient. So I´d be grateful to receive any kind of advice or tips about the use of iether the blog or platform. sometimes it´s really hard for me to work and I spend hours in a cyber coffee, but i want to do something productive, I wouldn´t like to feel I´m just wasting my time, so please help me out. For instance I´ve trying to do some practice from the platform but it´s impossible for me to go any further because it seems to be stuck in the very same exersice.

Lastest news - platform work
Dear All,
I must congratulate you all for the publications on the platform. You did a great job, especially those who were not acquainted enough with technology. Doubly deserving! You approached the topic with deep treatment. One or two teachers even commented on their colleagues´ work. That is exactly what the forum is meant for. I will refer to each of these comments soon.
I would also like to clarify some recurrent queries to sent me. Those sections which include exercises are meant to be done on your own for the sake of practice. You may use the TKT glossary help included on the platform as an aid. I do not gather any records on this work. The platform records the times you log in and how long you keep connected, apart form the comments you upload. So, assessment will be based on these two items ( participation on the platform and the material you upload).
Now we have to move on to the remaining sections in Unit 1 (Some of you have already done them!!) You have to do the assignment in Section 4 (Grammar analysis) and enter the forum in section 5 (Beliefs about Grammar). Would it be possible to go through them by Wednesday evening?

I am Violeta
Hello everyone. I am Violeta Carrizo. I am from the south of Tucumán, from the nice city of Juan Bautista Alberdi. It's a pleasure for me to be sharing this wonderful experience with you all. I consider this as a great oportunity for improving our performance as professional teachers. I have been studying English since I am 8 years old and I really believe this learning never stops.
I started working as a private teacher as many of us did, and now I am working in Escuela Mutual Policial, in San Miguel de Tucumán. I also work for a private Institute in Monteros called Stratford. I really enjoy being a teacher of English although sometimes I feel myself a "student/apprentice" in front of my students, from whom, in turn, I learn much more about other important things of "real" life. This is me: Isolina
Hi everybody. My name is Isolina Lazcano and I´m from Concepcion. I have been studying ENGLISH since I was 11 and I keep doing it 'cause I just love English. The passion for the Language was inhereted by my grandpa who was an English teacher. I am working in a public primary school as well as in a private Insitute where I work with adults. I find that working with children is demanding but also rewarding. It seems to me that this experience is awesome and I hope to get the best of it. I love music and I use music to teach,I also enyoy reading and surfing the Net. My dream is to travel to USA at the end of December and I think I´m in the way. My profile
Hello, I am Darío, I have been studying English for almost ten years. At first I have studied in institutes, ATICANA and Cultural Britanica de Salta. I have also studied at college, in “Filosofia y Letras”. At the moment I am studying English at “Lola Mora Institute”. I am in fourth year and I hope to get my degree very soon. I find this experience amazing, and I hope to have a good time and get to know you all very soon and enjoy this kind of adventure.
Well this is a little bit about my studies, I can also add that I am from Jujuy and that most of my family is there. I live here alone and I really enjoy music and reading. Schedule has been changed because many participants showed interest in attending the Conference organized by IES Lola Mora and therefore, the sessions this time only have been moved to the afternoon, starting straight after the conference finishes.There has only been included a 30-minute coffee break from 1530 to 1600.
